For OnePlus users, this latest update adds a smarter Gallery experience with a newly introduced “Explore” module. Inside the Smart Category, users photos are automatically sorted by “Places”, “People” and “Things”, and the new albums being created accordingly. Not long ago, if one can recall, the user only sort the pictures via date or ‘Places’ i.e. by the location where the user clicked those photos.
But now, what seems to be AI backed features, the user’s photos are automatically sorted in Places, People and Things categories and all of this sorting and grouping is done on your phone itself without taking the help of cloud servers, so the user saves the hassle and data while keeping the mind at ease about privacy.

- The ‘Places’ category is same as before, i.e. the pics are grouped according to the location at which the user took the photos.In the ‘People’ category, the photos are grouped on the basis of the ‘faces’ of the people present in the pics i.e. if a particular person is appearing in 5 photos then those 5 photos are grouped together.
- In the ‘Things’ category, the photos are grouped together by similarity in nature i.e there could be grouping by Plant, Landscape, Text, building, animal, flower, tree, sea, sky, bird, mountain, activity, drawing, slides, wedding, snow, electronic devices, food, shop, car, boat etc.
- In the “Story” feature, the gallery automatically picks up the best pics and creates video albums for the user while the phone is charging and screen is off. Once the video is saved, one can edit, cut, add filters and background music and can also share them on social media.
