As announced by Manu J in One Plus forum on Jan 23, One Plus models 6 and 6T started receiving version 10.3.1 via OTA channels. Initially the upgrades were provided only to the select group of people for testing to ensure that there were no critical issues or bugs, upon successful completion of which it is being rolled out in stages to different regions and countries.
In India we noticed that the OTA upgrade was available for download on Feb 09th, Manu J had already told the in the forum that using VPN to download the upgrade was futile as it was rolled out to few select and random population over different regions.
So what is new in this update? Well apart from fixing a few system issues the Android security patch has been updated to Dec 2019 ( Still very far behind as we are in Mid Feb 2020 almost and Google must be readying to release the Feb 2020 security patch).
Here’s the full changelogs in detail:
- System:
- Fixed the issue with a black screen appearing after unlocking the device using fingerprint
- Bug in the animation logo has been resolved while rebooting the device
- No device heating up while charging
- The random disconnection issue with 5Ghz Hotspot has been fixed.
- Improved system stability and fixed general bugs
- Updated Android security patch to 2019.12
- Camera:
- Optimized the image preview time in the Pro mode
- Fixed the camera crash issue
- Gallery:
- Fixed the issue with videos and images not displaying in Gallery
Optimized Charging feature update:
We believe that this is for the One Plus users to enable them to put their phones on charging at night and then go-to sleep peacefully without worrying about the phone damage caused by over charging.
When enabled via Settings–> Battery–> Optimized Charging, the phone will charge till 80 % and stop, thus preventing the damage caused by overnight charging. It will stay at 80% charge through the night and then again start charging before daily wake up time, first alarm or first event to 100%.
When Optimized Charging is enabled it will be visible on the battery icon and muted notification is displayed to explain this state. The user will have the option to toggle and end this state or charge the phone normally to 100%.
When this feature update will be available is still unknown, but hopefully soon we will hear good news from One Plus about the roll-out of this feature.
