One UI 3 OS: What to expect from the new OS by Samsung

Good news for Samsung fans: As per Samsung website, One UI 3 will be available from Nov 2020 or later. Samsung has already launched One UI 3 beta experience program in various countries and initial reports have started to pour in about the new features in the One UI 3 operating system by Samsung.

Here is what we know so far as what to expect from the One UI 3 OS when it’s final version is launched:

  • Android 11:  One UI 3 will bring the latest Android 11 with itself, and with it will arrive new functionalities and new features.
  • Enhanced Notification Panel: Switch between the apps more easily than ever before, and new information is available to glance at even when the phone is locked with the improved Notification Panel and Quick settings panel.
  • Dynamic lock screen:  More categories of wallpapers available for the users, and the user can select more than one category also.10 categories of images are available from One UI 3, 5 categories are available with One UI 2.5 OS.
  • Good Lock: With Wonderland feature, the user can create their own moving wallpaper that responds when you move your phone. With Pentastic, the user can customize their S Pen Air commands, Pointer and sound settings.
  • Support for multiple windows on a single screen: Multiple Window’s 3-section split-screen feature is available on Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ devices.
  • Video calls and emojis: Full-screen video calls will be available from One UI 3, and AR emoji masks are available from One UI 2.5.
  • Phone and messages: The storage period of items in Trash bin has been increased from 15 days to 30 days. The ability to customize the call screen with own pictures and videos has been added.
  • Always on Display: Always On Display widgets have been improved.
  • Home Screen: User have to touch and hold the app to add the widget associated with it, also double tap on empty area of home screen to turn the screen off functionality is available.
  • Samsung Keyboard: Keyboard settings can now be more easily found under general management in settings.
  • Accessibility features: Users will get accessibility suggestions based on their usage, and can set the accessibility shortcut more easily in settings. Also, sound detectors now work with Smart Things devices to give more visible alerts to users.
  • Samsung Dex: Wirelessly connecting to TV is now supported, also touchpad multi gestures support change of screen zoom and font size more easily.
  • Internet: The menu is rearranged to find things easily, ability to lock and reorder tabs is added, number of open tabs supported is increased to 99, improved design for tab bar, and ability to block websites from redirecting is added.
  • Calendar: The layout is improved for full screen alerts, events with same start time are shown together, and options for adding and editing the events are reorganized.
  • Reminder: The layout is improved for full screen alerts.
  • Digital Wellbeing: The trends to weekly report, phone usage time, lock screen widget and separate profiles for work and personal modes are added.
  • Camera: Auto focus, auto exposure, and stabilization are improved now.
  • Photo Editor: Ability to revert back the edited pictures to their original form is added.
  • Bixby routine: Ability to add a customized icon for each routine, add routine to lock screen is added, preset routine are now grouped together.
