In our earlier post on Office 365 Transitions To Microsoft 365 Subscriptions from April 21, 2020 – we had pointed out that the all new and refreshed version of Microsoft 365 is all set to surprise you with artificial intelligence (AI), rich content and templates, cloud-powered experiences, and new productivity tools along with a lot of Office-related features such as Microsoft Word Editor, PowerPoint App, Excel, Outlook and the Edge web browser thrown in.

From the list, Microsoft Editor has already begun to rollout, with general availability by the end of April. It will be available via three main platforms namely:

1. Word documents

2. Email platform like Outlook

3. Across internet through browser extension.

Microsoft Editor is an intelligent writing assistant and the user can fully utilise its potential by taking its help in writing grammatically correct prose, fluent and pleasing emails; and can write posts on social networking sites too as it is necessary that we communicate our feelings and meaning clearly without ambiguity.

Microsoft Editor Writing Assistant App is more of a bonus with AI-powered features Versus Grammarly

Microsoft Editor is an Artificial intelligence powered service that enables the user to write with confidence in more than 20 languages. Any user who has a Microsoft login can access for free the essential features such as spelling and basic grammar across Word, Outlook.com, and the web.

Microsoft 365 Personal and Family paid users will have access to advanced grammar and style refinements like Clarity, conciseness, formal language, vocabulary suggestions and more. The user can open the Editor pane by clicking on the pen icon in the ribbon and then the Editor will analyze the writing and give statistics on readability, distinct words, and also time to read the document.

Now you can write confidently across your Office apps and favorite websites with all new Microsoft Editor App

Here are a few of the Microsoft Editor Writing Assistant App features which are unique to Word are discussed below:

1. Similarity Checker

The internet provides everyone with a very large amount of reading material, and it can at times be a challenge to do citations. Similarity checker will be available for Word in the future and will provide help by identifying unoriginal content and will make it easier to insert relevant citations.

2. Rewrite suggestions

Editor will check the user’s writing for fluency, conciseness, or readability in short and full sentences and will provide suggestions for rewriting. Tobuse this feature, one has to highlight a sentence, right-click on it, and then select “Rewrite Suggestions” from the context menu. Currently it is available for Word for the web in English language only.

3. Editor in Outlook

Microsoft has also announced that Editor’s capabilities have been expanded to Outlook.com and Outlook on the web. With the use of Editor, one can save time and press “send” knowing surely that message conveyed is clear and concise. The Editor’s spelling and grammar functionalities are available for free to use on Outlook.com, while more advanced features will be extended exclusively to Microsoft 365 paid users.

4. Browser extension for Editor

The browser extension for Editor now provides capacity to create and write without worrying for mistakes, being fully aware that the Editor will check, flag and maybe correct too (at user’s discretion) the grammatical errors.

In our previously published article on “Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center Accidentally Released” we had already pointed this a while ago, about its development under closed curtains, but now not only Microsoft has revealed the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution but also asked the user’s opinion.

Microsoft took to Twitter and posted a small video clip on the official Microsoft Design Twitter account that highlights the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution as how it grew and evolved over time. The most interesting part from the user’s point of view is that Microsoft provides a view of the futuristic newly redesigned Start Menu which it is planning to release in the upcoming feature update for Windows 10.

Created by the @Windows design team, this animated clip illustrates a sliver of the #UX evolution and modernization of the Windows experience. Let us know what you think in the comments below! pic.twitter.com/s4SVXncLEo
— Microsoft Design (@MicrosoftDesign) April 6, 2020

The all new and improved New Start Menu definitely differs quite a lot from the older one by including changes to tiles such as the omission of titles for medium sized ones. Many user’s have expressed their opinion in the form of comments which seems to be positive so far. The user who disliked the Windows 10 Start Menu redesign hated the removal of text labels.

Earlier, the official sources confirmed that Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center has been designed for Microsoft’s new Windows Lite OS but one can easily assume that one day it will come to our desktops too. Again, being an internal built, Microsoft might completely redesign it or it might not even see the light of the day. According to WindowsCentral, Microsoft today accidentally revealed Windows 10 internal build (18947) for its 32-bit systems with a new Start Menu and Control Center UI in its Insider Program due to a glitch which was not even meant for testers too.
