In our previously published article on “Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center Accidentally Released” we had already pointed this a while ago, about its development under closed curtains, but now not only Microsoft has revealed the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution but also asked the user’s opinion.

Microsoft took to Twitter and posted a small video clip on the official Microsoft Design Twitter account that highlights the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution as how it grew and evolved over time. The most interesting part from the user’s point of view is that Microsoft provides a view of the futuristic newly redesigned Start Menu which it is planning to release in the upcoming feature update for Windows 10.

Created by the @Windows design team, this animated clip illustrates a sliver of the #UX evolution and modernization of the Windows experience. Let us know what you think in the comments below! pic.twitter.com/s4SVXncLEo
— Microsoft Design (@MicrosoftDesign) April 6, 2020

The all new and improved New Start Menu definitely differs quite a lot from the older one by including changes to tiles such as the omission of titles for medium sized ones. Many user’s have expressed their opinion in the form of comments which seems to be positive so far. The user who disliked the Windows 10 Start Menu redesign hated the removal of text labels.

Earlier, the official sources confirmed that Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center has been designed for Microsoft’s new Windows Lite OS but one can easily assume that one day it will come to our desktops too. Again, being an internal built, Microsoft might completely redesign it or it might not even see the light of the day. According to WindowsCentral, Microsoft today accidentally revealed Windows 10 internal build (18947) for its 32-bit systems with a new Start Menu and Control Center UI in its Insider Program due to a glitch which was not even meant for testers too.

OnePlus has rolled out betas OnePlus 5/5T and 6/6T Software Updates on different mobile phones. These latest unveiled Beta updates will surely improve performance and the user experience on for OnePlus older smartphones users. Improvements like Digital Wellbeing and Wind Down will help end users to take a short or long break from their phone screens by turning the brilliant colorful screen to gray color.

In addition, the users can track the time spent and notifications received per app using this feature. For your information, many pixel smartphones from Google, Samsung mobile phones and a few others already have the Digital Wellbeing app.

Fnatic Mode is another great addition to OnePlus handsets which will provide an ‘immersive gaming experience’ as stated by OnePlus. As stated earlier, other features of OnePlus 7 Pro like Zen Mode, DC Dimmimg, Screen Recorder are also expected to arrive shortly on OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T in addition to Android Q.

Without wasting much time, let us give you the sneak-peek of all the exciting additions (confirmed by Manu J. on One Plus community by sharing the detailed change-log on May’19) you shall now able to enjoy in OnePlus 5/5T & 6/6T. And for your kind information, some set of features are common to OnePlus 7.

Here’s everything you wanted to hear about new OnePlus 6/6T and 5/5T software updates and the wonderful improvements:

1) Now, both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are supported with the Quick Pairing feature and the Bullets Wireless 2 earphones. This Quick Pairing feature works very similar to the Apple Airpods with the iPhones. Also, the new version update has fixed the automatic answering issue that keeps troubling OnePlus users while connecting to a Bluetooth handset.

2) Android Q Developer Preview is already available for OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus6/6T users. Android Q has been promised for OnePlus 5/5T users too but no deadline has been confirmed. (Very much scenario like OnePlus 3/3T users who got their third and final major upgrade in the form of Android P this year which was delivered very late in May’19).

3) Fnatic Mode to block all distractions, boost CPU performance, network speed in the device. The feature shall help the phone reach its maximum performance while playing games (sounds like a major upgrade over the Gaming Mode already present in OnePlus 6/6T users).

4) Zen Mode to stop all notifications and distractions for 20 minutes. The user will still have access to the device’s camera and make emergency calls. (Again, sounds like a rip off from Digital Wellbeing App given on Pixel phones initially to power down the phone from Sunset to Sunrise or as per user specifications to stop all notifications and allowing the phone user a much-deserved break).

5) Quick Reply in Landscape Mode. Yeah, after this update one can directly reply in landscape mode while watching a movie or playing games without having to switch over to portrait mode.

6) DC dimming: The screen brightness will/can be reduced by the user by changing the circuit power of the screen. This feature will arrive first for OnePlus 6/6T users and then testing for OnePlus 5/5T users will begin.

7) Screen Recorder to enable users to record their gameplay as a video or even make a video tutorial with high-quality internal sound included.

8) RAM Boost to increase RAM utilization according to te user’s usage, will also predict apps one wants to launch and data one wants to load.OnePlus 6/6T users already have Smart-Boost function and will upgrade to RAM Boost in future updates. OnePlus 5/5T users will also get this feature in the future (although, as usual, OnePlus 6/6T users will receive this feature before OnePlus 5/5T users).

Way to go, OnePlus with these awesomely new OnePlus 6/6T Software Updates and wonderful improvements!

Android 11 is stated to be released in Q3 of 2020 according to the timelines announced by Google. From the six releases in total classified as “beta” quality by Google, the first three versions shall be released as Android 11 developer previews. The final Android Q Beta 2 including “final internal and external APIs, final app-facing behaviors, and final non-SDK graylists” is expected to release in June 2020 to all eligible phones.

The all new Android 11 version is expected to release on May 12, 2020, and its final version may roll out from October 2020 by Google to all eligible phones.

OnePlus smartphones are eligible for the upcoming Android 11/OxygenOS 11 final version expected to roll out from October 2020 by Google.

Android Q Beta (also known as Android 11) is the upcoming version of Android to be launched by Google and it is the 18th version of the Android mobile operating system. OnePlus has been working closely with Google and even managed to provide Developer Preview1 beta for OnePlus 6/6T an early glimpse at the future of Android 11 on the same day as Google announced.

OnePlus Android 11 Preview Early Glimpse: Upcoming Android Q Beta Features

Always On Display:

OnePlus team is working on the viability of this feature and found out that AOD could roughly consume about 350-500 mAh of the battery, which means the user might get one or two hours deducted from daily usage. OnePlus believes that this could lead to substandard performances on current devices with variable screen refresh rates.

OnePlus team is currently working on a test applied to the power consumption of the AOD in a device with a higher refresh rate display. If the power consumption is below 150 mAh then the team may place it in OnePlus laboratory for download and testing.

5G state API

5G is going to be a hot topic for discussion with OnePlus already announcing that it’s entire line next year will be 5Gready. The new API’s addition will be of greater importance when 5G expands in the near future.

Support for Hinge Angle Sensor

Android 11 adds a new API which will detect the hinge position and improve the experience like having a laptop mode. This comes right on time when big mobile companies like Motorola and Samsung have started releasing foldable phones.

For now these foldables are costly and not used by much population, but as technology advances and time passes, these phones will definitely be used by larger population.

Notification History

It is really confusing sometimes when one accidentally clears a notification and has no way of finding out which app sent it. However, Android 11 you now has notification history feature and it’s an absolute life saver for many people who enjoy dismissing their notifications for no reason at all, and then trying to remember what it was about.

Variable Refresh Rate

OnePlus has already introduced 90 Hz screen refresh rate with OnePlus 7T and has announced an even better 120 Hz refresh rates in its future phones. With the higher refresh rates arises the case of better battery life. To maintain a balance between smoothness and battery percentage, a dynamic refresh rate is the future ahead. Developers can now choose and switch between 60, 90 and 120Hz refresh rates.

Resume on Reebot

Right now one has to unlock the phone after a software update for applications to start sending the notifications. It becomes an issue when one leaves phone to update overnight, the notifications won’t come in and applications won’t work until the phone is unlocked. With Resume on Reebot applications gain access to the encrypted storage and the phone will work just fine and the second it reboots without you having to unlock it .

That’s not all there are a host of other new features, like Bubbles, scheduled dark mode, a new grid style Wallpaper UI, Requiring eyes to be open for face unlock to work, improved call screening for Pixel devices and so much more!
