In today’s world, email has very swiftly taken over the world and replaced the most other forms of writing namely telegraph, letters, official and unofficial communications and so on. Also, email writing etiquette is very important as each day, everyone from a student to a family person to a person sitting in a public or corporate office encounters a number of emails, and a person has to respond to each email as per the situation.

Believe it or not, even if the person is sitting right next to you and you want to share a document, email is still the best way to share that information or document, rather than to search the printer, print it, and increase the carbon footprint unnecessarily. Let us a have a look at some useful email writing tips for professionals discussed below:

Useful Email Writing Tips To Perfect Your Email Etiquette

Direct approach: The very first tip is that you don’t have to email if you want an immediate response from the receiver. Instead, the best approach is to pick up the phone and call him/ her, and there is a high percentage of probability that the person on the other end will understand your side of the story as well and respond accordingly.

Be precise and concise: Your email should be to the point and avoid unnecessary discussions. The client especially appreciates if you follow direct and to the point approach, rather than beating around the bushes. Avoid using sarcasm or unnecessary humour in your email.

Don’t send an email without a subject line: There is a high probability that the receiver will miss your email if it is missing the subject line. Sending an email without a subject line is equivalent to sending an invisible email, which almost nobody will notice or read.

Gentle tone: The tone of your email should always be gentle, be it a CEO of the company you are talking to or a simple admin guy who takes orders from you. Always remember “Manners maketh a Man” is an old proverb which is still valid even in today’s era.

Proofread your email: Imagine yourself in a situation where you have made a spelling mistake or forgot to attach a file or document in an email sent to your onshore client or the contents or attachments of that email are to be published in a national or international daily. That would definitely cause a lot of embarrassment, right? So always, proofread your email before sending them out. In Microsoft Word and Excel, proofreading is as easy as pressing the F7 key on your keyboard.

Automated tools: Take help of automated tools like Microsoft Editor and Grammarly, which are present as an extension in Google Chrome and Edge browsers. The Grammarly keyboard is also available in Google Play Store for Android devices. These tools will pick out your spelling and sense mistakes and will also present before you the most plausible correct word to replace the wrongly spelt word.

Usage of signature: Always use a signature to save some time, also keep professional and private signature apart and never mingle them in your responses.

High priority email: This option is present in the Outlook, and should be used only in the circumstance when you want to point out a task which is pending for a long time or you want to draw the attention of the recipient of the receiver.

Don’t use ‘Reply to All’ option: Never use a ‘Reply to All’ option in Gmail, Outlook, or any other email client, until and unless you are instructed to do so. You might be sending out a piece of confidential information to the unknown or unauthorized recipients.

Take help: Never shy away from taking the help of your colleagues, seniors or even family and friends when required. It is highly likely that they can help you with email writing in a very clear and concise manner especially when you are a beginner.

In our previously published article on “Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center Accidentally Released” we had already pointed this a while ago, about its development under closed curtains, but now not only Microsoft has revealed the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution but also asked the user’s opinion.

Microsoft took to Twitter and posted a small video clip on the official Microsoft Design Twitter account that highlights the Windows 10 New Start Menu UX Evolution as how it grew and evolved over time. The most interesting part from the user’s point of view is that Microsoft provides a view of the futuristic newly redesigned Start Menu which it is planning to release in the upcoming feature update for Windows 10.

Created by the @Windows design team, this animated clip illustrates a sliver of the #UX evolution and modernization of the Windows experience. Let us know what you think in the comments below! pic.twitter.com/s4SVXncLEo
— Microsoft Design (@MicrosoftDesign) April 6, 2020

The all new and improved New Start Menu definitely differs quite a lot from the older one by including changes to tiles such as the omission of titles for medium sized ones. Many user’s have expressed their opinion in the form of comments which seems to be positive so far. The user who disliked the Windows 10 Start Menu redesign hated the removal of text labels.

Earlier, the official sources confirmed that Windows 10 New Start Menu and Control Center has been designed for Microsoft’s new Windows Lite OS but one can easily assume that one day it will come to our desktops too. Again, being an internal built, Microsoft might completely redesign it or it might not even see the light of the day. According to WindowsCentral, Microsoft today accidentally revealed Windows 10 internal build (18947) for its 32-bit systems with a new Start Menu and Control Center UI in its Insider Program due to a glitch which was not even meant for testers too.

Microsoft Office 365 cloud platform has a huge subscriber base of 38 million users on its Office 365 Personal and Home plan which is a result of nearly 206 percent growth from 12.4 million subscribers 5 years back.
Microsoft is planning to replace its entire Office 365 suite of application with the newly announced ‘Microsoft 365’ subscription service and has announced that it will do so on April 21 this year. Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans will consist of Office apps, OneDrive storage and more.

Microsoft 365 Family plan is available at the cost of USD 9.99 (Rs 760 approximately) per month, and it can be extended up to six family members. Comparatively, the Microsoft Personal plan costs USD 6.99 (Rs 600 approx) per month.

Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions coming on April 21

Microsoft is also introducing the Microsoft Family Safety App which will start rolling out in future months. Microsoft Family Safety app will be equipped with features like location/place sharing among the family members and will also let users save locations like home, office and school.

The inbuilt automatic location tracking and sharing feature will allow for notifications and automatic actions whenever a user leaves from or to office, home or school. Also, interestingly this app has feature that can allow parents to monitor the driving habits of their kids. It will also come with a drive safety feature that shows statistics on phone usage, top speed and hard breaking.

Users can also get a map-wise view of whatever happened along their route. Parents can also filter inappropriate apps, games and websites and also set age limits for kids.

What’s in the box: Office 365 Transitions to Microsoft 365 Subscriptions with AI and cloud-powered features

The all new and refreshed version of Microsoft 365 is all set to surprise you with artificial intelligence (AI), rich content and templates, cloud-powered experiences, and new productivity tools along with a lot of Office-related features such as Microsoft Word Editor, PowerPoint App, Excel, Outlook and the Edge web browser. Let’s delve deeper into the awesome features

1. Microsoft Word Editor

An advanced proofing tool and the users will soon get access to it. In addition to doing a normal proof reading, it will improve one’s writing style with more semantic and high-level suggestions. Also included would be a rewrite option, that will allow the user to re-write the entire sentences. On similar lines, a plagiarism checker is also included in it, which will help prevent plagiarism and help users properly cite content.
