Very recently, Google has launched its much-hyped Ambient Mode for Google Assistant for all Android phones and this awesome feature has now rolled out to many OnePlus devices as promised. The Ambient Mode displays lots of information while the device is charging.

List of OnePlus Phones qualify for Google Assistant Ambient Mode Update

This is a staged rollout so it might take some time to reach your device. The rollout is supported by Google via Google App, no software or application updates are required. “Ambient Mode” for One Plus devices (One Plus 3/5/6/7) powered by Google Assistant is now available:

OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T

OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro

OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro

One Plus’s new Ambient Mode update which is out for One Plus 3 and above) is closest to the Always-On Display from Google. But don’t just yet be excited, there is a catch, that this Ambient Mode is only available to the device/you only while charging the device.

How to enable Google Assistant Ambient Mode?

For all Oneplus users who want to experience this outstanding Google feature on OnePlus handsets, here are the steps to enable

1. Go to Google app

2. Open the app-specific Settings > Assistant > Devices (Phone)

3. Scroll down to Personalization > Toggle Ambient Mode.

Now just put your phone to charging and voila! The much-awaited Ambient Mode or a shorter form of Always on Display is there.

Note: The Ambient Mode displays “proactive” information whenever it is plugged in handset i.e. what is the time left for full charging of the phone, how much time is required for the commute, is there a new email, message, reminder and so on. It can also be turned into a digital photo frame or an interface to control smart home devices.

What’s More by OnePlus: The Much Awaited OnePlus 7T update arrives in India

As announced by Manu J, One Plus has started to push the updates for One Plus owners- OxygenOS 10.0.8 (global) and 10.3.1(India) for the OnePlus 7T. Interestingly, these updates are incremental in nature and will reach a small number of select users first, and when confirmed bug-free, they will be rolled out to the larger audience. So basically, using a VPN to download the updates earlier is useless.

P.S – Some users have already downloaded the updates via so called Oxygen updater and have reported that VoWiFi registration feature for Jio sim is still not available or missing from download.
